| 一、参赛题目 My Definition of Success
二﹑比赛时间 2008年11月3日比赛
三﹑比赛环节
（1）定题演讲 演讲时间为三分钟指定时间到有计时人员响铃提示。2分30秒响铃一次。
（2）问题回答 两分钟时间回答一或二个问题，中国评委和外国评委各一个，视选手的语言水平而定。
四、出场顺序
（1）、主持人开场
（2）、致词
（3）、主持人说明比赛规则、评分标准及介绍评委
（4）、比赛开始第一个选手开始演讲，第二个参赛选手准备。以此类推。
五、评委会
（1）、评委会组成：
评委会由七名外语教师及一名外籍教师组成。
（2）、评委打分：
七位评委打分的平均分，即为选手得分。
六、评分标准
（1）、决赛评分标准：选手评分采取十分制，评委打分保留到小数点后一位。以6分为起点分进行评判。评委在三名选手比赛完毕之后进行打分，以示比赛评分的合理性。
内容2分 语音语调2分 词汇语法1分流畅性2分 自信2分 礼仪1分
总分 10分
定题演讲占70% 问题回答占30%
（2）、内容要求
⑴ 主题鲜明切题，内容清楚、结构清晰、中心突出，合理展开、阐释充分、证据相关、逻辑性强，内容生动，吸引人，不枯燥，能抓住观众注意力。
⑵ 演讲人应使用英式英语或美式英语。语言准确（发音清晰准确，音调、音高要合适，选词用词的准确和相关），演讲流利（连读，词重音，句重音，语调，节奏）。
⑶ 技巧：幽默感，手势、眼睛接触与身体语言，自信、有感情与气势；适当修辞手段（举例， 比喻，类比等）
The Rules of the Competition
I Each contestant has three minutes to deliver a prepared speech, and then a warning bell will sound when there are thirty seconds remaining. To ensure fairness, the contestant must stop speaking when the three minutes allotment is over.
II There will be approximately two questions based on the contestant’s speech raised by a Chinese and a foreign judge.
II This competition will be mediated by a panel of eight judges—seven Chinese judges and a foreign judge.
III The Standards of Scoring
1) Ten-point System with the minimum score 6
2) The average score of the seven Chinese judges will be the final score for each contestant.
3) The final scores will be given after the first three contestants have finished the speech to ensure fairness.
VI Each contestant will be judged on the two sections and the final score for each is made up of two parts, 70% for the prepared speech and 30% for the question-answering.

III The speech should show contestant’s grasp of English and its usage and test of contestant’s spontaneous use of English.

1) The speech should be clear enough and to the point
2) The contestants should speak accurate and standard British English or American English fluently.
3) Skills
The contestants should deliver the speeches confidently with sense of humor, gestures, eye-contact and body language, using proper rhetorical figures.
注：英语口语大赛定于2008年11月3日在贵阳举行，请贵阳以外高校参赛选手于2008年11月2日下午2：30到5：30在贵阳京瑞宾馆副楼报到。（原则上各校要求一名带队老师带队）
